Since Beginning the courses run at Rainbow Valley Farm, Permaculture and Sustainable Rural Development Course, I have with the aid of Wwoorfers been able to put in to practice what I have learn.
The first thing I needed to do was find a way to eliminate Kikuyia grass to make way for tree planting. And to make a compost.
This is a Chicken tractor. The principal, is to use the chickens to scratch up the grass.
After a couple of weeks moving then on to the next patch of grass.
Compost Pile
Made up of green matter; Nitrogen rich and wet.Brown matter; Carbon rich and dry.Shredded Newspapertwigs and stickswood chipsdry leaves. Made with alternate layers.
To keep the weeds away from around my garden I laid down newspaper and then spread sawdust over the top.I made a pathway into my garden so as to eliminate walking on the soil. Sawdust and pathway.
